Joginder Singh’s Lancer 16000GSR won the overall victory in the 1974 East African Safa Rally. Initially, Mitsubishi cancelled its participation in this rally due to the first oil crisis. However, Singh did not give up and purchased a Lancer 1600GSR there at his own expense. Mitsubishi responded to his enthusiasm and sent rally parts to him, and Singh brought Mitsubishi Motors its first WRC victory.

Yoshitaka Wada Lancer EX 2000 turbo

“Lancer EX 2000 Turbo”
Lancer EX 2000 Turbo, driven by Pentti Ailikkala, took 3rd place in the 1982 1000 Lakes Rally. This was the best result for the Lancer EX 2000 Turbo. The Audi Quattros, which finished 1-2, was far ahead. The need for 4WD became apparent, and this led to the development of the Stallion 4WD.

”Lancer Evolution III”
The Lancer Evolution III, winner of the 1995 Hong Kong-Beijing Rally. The driver was Kenneth Ericsson. In addition to the WRC, Mitsubishi actively participated in the Asia Pacific Rally Championship starting in 1988. The ever-evolving Lancer Evolution achieved success in this championship.
