“Lancer EX2000 Turbo Rally Car”
In 1982, I painted this for a spread in Sankaido’s “Auto Technic Rally Special” issue. I liked the square design of the 2nd gen. Lancer by Aldo Sessano. I especially liked the large air dam at the front of the turbo version, the intercooler visible from there, the orange and white body color, the unique star-shaped design of the wheels, etc. I heard that Walter Rohr, the German master driver, wanted to drive this Lancer Turbo. Even now, the well-proportioned, square and simple shape has not lost its charm. Makoto Ouchi
